Hazbin Hotel's Showrunner Has Seen Fans' Second Season Bingo Cards — And She Has Good News
The much-anticipated Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been intense.
The first season presents a diverse group of personalities living within the afterlife, sets them at odds accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" affecting the enigmatic Alastor? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented earlier this year. "But I feel like me being a fan of my own show means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I want some of these things to happen, and clearly some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
The creator says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season moves, and how much of what they're anticipating unfolds this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we receive some incredible reveals, some fascinating backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience much more singing from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
The creator is well-informed of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a prediction grid about the new season," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and nearly every one of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I realized, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
